This was the first time that I participated in a Youtube Knifemaker’s Challenge. I wasn’t invited, but I threw my hat in the ring anyway.

I did some research on the Qama Dagger and fell in love with its wide, leaf-shaped blade and handle. Since it was a challenge and I wasn’t well versed in making damascus, I knew this was a good opportunity to push myself and make a mid/low layer pattern. Another challenge was the centre fuller and hidden tang.

The handle features deer antler, copper and the wood is Pau ferro. The green pin was a requirement for the competition.
